KOCHI: Amid rumours that former England goalkeeper David James is the marquee player for Kerala Blasters FC in the upcoming Indian Super League, the club wants co-owner Sachin Tendulkar to reveal the name of their star attraction.
Neither denying nor confirming the James signing, PVP Group director Rajeev Kamineni said an international of repute had been signed as the Kochi franchise’s icon player.
“Tendulkar himself will announce the name of the marquee player after the player draft scheduled to be held on July 21 and 22 in Mumbai. All I can say now is that we have signed our marquee player and a contract is in place,” Kamineni said.
Unconfirmed reports said the 43-year old James, who rose to fame with Liverpool before playing 53 internationals for England, was set to play for the Kochi franchise as player-manager.
